The unlikely expatriate blogger behind ThriveAbroad Family

Hi, I'm Lea
Project manager. Parent. An expat based in Paris, France.
A few years ago I relocated here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't in our long-range plan. Like many relocations for expats, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something larger.
The early weeks were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning through experience accompanied us. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that fit our needs, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built ThriveAbroad Family
Online information mostly fell into corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Does (And Doesn’t Do)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from living in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when real changes occur
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a paid-review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in France goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Lea
